People have always been talking about gender equality in the movie industry and we have seen more and more people in Hollywood trying to give women bigger roles in films and trying to get the actresses in the business on an even keel with the actors. However, following the female led Ghostbusters reboot, which turned out to be a huge flop, there were some people questioning whether a big female led movie can actually put bums in seats.

This has led to some people also suggesting that this could well be one of the main reasons why Marvel has yet to give Scarlett Johansson the Black Widow movie that she deserves and the fans wanted. Marvel are finally going to bring us a female led superhero movie, when they give us their Captain Marvel movie, but they could well bring us some more female led superhero films, thanks to their bitter rivals DC.
Some people were a bit sceptical when it was announced that DC and Warner Bros. had cast Gal Gadot in a Wonder Woman movie but, thanks to the rave reviews and the fact that the movie has already made over $435m worldwide, those fans people have been won over and it has proven that a female led superhero movie can definitely be a good thing, and in some cases even better than the male led films.

With that in mind, it will definitely be interesting to see whether Marvel do finally decide to give Scarlett Johansson the Black Widow movie that she deserves. Unfortunately though, their schedule is pretty packed for quite a few years now and Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow contract will eventually come to an end, so it could all be a little too late to happen.
